Oomph! Coffee has been operating in a roasting, retail and wholesale capacity since 2001.

How many different types of coffee does an Oomph! Coffee store sell?

Oomph! Coffee produces seven specialty blends and we hold at least twelve single-origins in stock at all times. The single-origins, as well as the specialty blends, are available for sale through your Oomph! outlet. We offer a single-origin at all times for the espresso drinker to enjoy on the spot.

What other items do the stores sell?

Our stores offer a selection of teas, coffee and tea accessories, espresso-based drinks, iced coffee drinks and refreshing chillers.

How much will an Oomph! franchise operation cost me?

Less than the others!

The cost of an Oomph! franchise/license can start from as low as $50,000.

Of course you need to be financially secure and able to obtain finance to build your site.

There are two ways a new franchisee can approach set-up. We can help arrange finance. Financing gives you a lower set-up outlay but gives more on-going costs. This second way can also provide tax benefits, but it is more expensive in the long term.

Either way, the aim is to assist you to get set up with the fewest headaches and with the most profit.

How much is the royalty fee and what do I receive for my royalty fees?

There is no royalty fee with Oomph! Coffee. Our aim is to help you to concentrate on producing the highest quality coffee possible and, in doing so, to have you earning as much as possible. We do not consider hammering our franchisees with royalty fees a good business relationship builder. After all, we are in this together.

Is there an advertising fee and, if so, what type of advertising and promotional support will I receive?

Yes. Franchisees will participate in an Advertising and Promotion Program funded by a monthly contribution of 3% of gross sales. Advertising and promotion is a part of the development of the Oomph! Coffee franchise network and image. This fund is used for brand and promotional advertising for the marketing of your Oomph! Coffee store.

Materials include:

• Product brochures to educate your guests
• Distribution of press releases to the media
• Production of promotional literature
• Point-of-purchase displays
• Media production and advertisements

The net result enhances the knowledge of consumers regarding the premium quality of Oomph! Coffee, and results in sales for you.

Is there a training program? If so, what type of training will I receive?

Yes.

After acceptance of your franchise agreement, and prior to your store opening, you will receive comprehensive training through our Oomph! Coffee System. This informative six week course covers every aspect of operations including purchasing, espresso knowledge, staff training and management skills.

Training takes place in one of our sites and has large amounts of intense in-store experience. The focus is on an intimate relationship with coffee and understanding of coffee and its parameters.

We call it extreme, because you will be taught coffee properly. It’s a lot of fun, and is confidence building.

Does Oomph! help me to open my new store?

Yes, we do! Experienced members of our team will work with you on-site for the first week or more to help you get things up and running properly. This is included in the set-up costs.

Is the franchisee required to purchase any equipment or supplies directly from Oomph!?

Yes. Nearly everything is purchased through Oomph! This is why we do not charge royalty fees. It is our product that helps you succeed, and it is the way that Oomph! generates income. Of course, things such as cleaning supplies and milk are purchased through your choice of suppliers.

Why should I purchase an Oomph! Coffee franchise instead of any other gourmet coffee operation?

The Kindred family owns the Oomph! Coffee operation. They are at the highest level in Specialty Coffee industry in Australia. Many other franchise operations, particularly the high-profile ones, are mainly focused on getting a business up and running, and selling a product. What is left out is the real expertise that we offer.

We believe that if you put quality first, then the customers will come and keep coming. Of course, business skills must be built in, but never at the expense of quality.

Think about this: Some of the most successful, constantly busy coffee locations hardly have a blackboard as a menu board, and don’t have anything like a franchise look. In fact, they are usually a little ‘grungy’ (that doesn’t mean dirty!). Some of these stores, including our own, are pumping out 120-plus kilos per week! It’s because it’s real, not contrived.

Coffee is from the earth. It is a natural, organic thing that is enjoyed by people from all walks of life. The store that handles coffee well usually reflects these things in the surroundings that it builds. This is the way to strip out the pretentiousness that most franchises rely on to make sales.

How soon after approval can I expect to open my store?

That depends primarily on the availability of locations in the area you have selected for your store.

What experience do I need to operate an Oomph! Coffee store?

The primary qualifications are financial stability and capability combined with a demonstrated work ethic and desire to succeed. It is so much better if you love coffee and are genuinely interested in coffee.

The character and motivation of the franchisee is considered more critical to the performance of the business than prior business or retail experience, although that can help. Our extreme training program and in-store assistance will make sure you are ready to operate an Oomph! Coffee store.

Oomph! is Fair Trade licenced, and we purchase our coffees from growers and co-ops utilizing a minimum standard for responsible coffee production in the global market.
